• 3. Update your staff listing

  Key contacts of ELFA member companies are encouraged to periodically update your staff listing in the ELFA member directory. This ensures your employees have access to the full array of member benefits and allows ELFA to communicate with the relevant people within your organization. Please take a moment to log into the ELFA website and remove former employees as needed. Learn more

• 4. When are ELFA 2024 dues payments due?

  ELFA Membership dues are due by December 31, 2023. There is not a penalty for late payment; however, the full amount is due for the membership year. Subsequently all member benefits are suspended until membership dues are paid in full or a payment plan has been established.

• 5. How are the membership dues calculated every year?

  The dues for Regular Members are based on the company’s Annual Volume or Total Assets, whichever is greater. The dues for International and Associate Members are based on the total number of employees in the company.

  An increase of 2% or the Consumer Price Index, whichever is greater, will be applied to the membership dues on an annual basis.

• 6. What happens if I don't renew for the current year but want to renew the following year?

  Membership dues are due by December 31, 2023. If dues are not paid by January 31, 2024, all member benefits will be suspended. Your company's employees will not be able to receive member discounts, online access to the Equipment Leasing & Finance magazine or access the members-only sections of the ELFA website for the lapsed year until dues are paid.

• 7. I'm a former member. Can I pay dues to be reinstated?

  If your membership has lapsed during the previous year, you are required to pay for both the current and previous years' dues. If it has been two years or more since your membership was active, your company must rejoin as a new member.

• 8. What portion of the ELFA membership dues are deductible as a business expense?

  Payments for membership renewals are deductible for most members of a trade association under §162 of the Internal Revenue Code. However, §162 also states that the portion of dues used by a trade association for state and federal lobbying purposes is not deductible by members as a business expense for federal tax purposes. For 2024, the percentage of an ELFA member's dues that are deductible as a business expense is 80%.

• 10. Can I still attend an ELFA event if I don’t renew my ELFA membership?

  A non-renewing Regular member organization will be permitted to attend one ELFA conference as a non-member and pay the applicable non-member registration fee.  If the company wishes to attend another ELFA conference thereafter, it must join as a Regular member.

  • A Regular member is any company located in the U.S. that is engaged to a substantial extent in the leasing of equipment to other commercial users or in the funding or arranging of such leases.  Dues are based on annual volume or annual assets, whichever is greater. 
  • This does not apply to any non-renewing associate or international associate companies.
• 11. Can I attend an ELFA event as a non-member?

  An organization that has never been a member of the ELFA, and is qualified to be a Regular member, is subject to the same attendance policy that applies to non-renewing ELFA Regular member: i.e., it will be permitted to attend one ELFA conference as a non-member and pay the applicable non-member registration fee.  If the company wishes to attend another ELFA conference thereafter, it must join as a Regular member. This does not apply to companies that qualify for associate or international associate membership.

• 12. I want to attend an ELFA event to decide if I want my company to join ELFA. Is there a discount to attend as a non-member?

  New members will receive a discount (the difference between the non-member and member registration fee) credited towards their dues if they attend a conference as a non-member, pay the non-member registration fee, and subsequently join the ELFA within 60 days.
